Why wouldn’t you?

You may have heard of Botox injections used for cosmetic purposes. But do you know why people opt for the procedure? And did you also know that there are a number of medical conditions that can be treated with Botox?

Most people opt for Botox injections to lend them a more youthful appearance. The treatment can smooth out wrinkles or fine lines that gather around the eyes, on the forehead and on other areas of the face. Appearing younger can raise an older person’s self-esteem or their confidence.

Other than the cosmetic reasoning, there are some significant corrective medical appliances for Botox treatment.

One of these is to treat hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is a common condition in which a person sweats excessively. This can be from the underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis) or from the palms and soles of the feet (palmoplantar hyperhidrosis). The condition often causes embarrassment to the sufferer and feelings of low self-esteem. Botox injections have been used successfully to treat hyperhidrosis so that patients have felt confident to go out in warmer weather without the worry of excessive perspiration. Not a permanent solution, but one that can offer relief for up to seven months.

Botox can alleviate migraines. Migraine attacks can be both painful and debilitating. Botox helps by relaxing the muscles responsible for the onset of these intense headaches. It’s suggested that the chemical can block the sensory nerves that transmit the pain signals to the brain. A series of Botox treatments are able to reduce substantially the occurrence of migraines.

Botox is used as a preferred form of plastic surgery over traditional plastic surgery because it offers the patient a quicker recovery. That can be an attractive proposition for people who need to return to work as soon as possible. In many cases, patients are able to resume their day-to-day lives within a day or two at the most.
From an impact perspective, the injections do not cause severe bruising or internal bleeding as can happen in other forms of cosmetic procedure. Also, Botox does not require a permanent commitment. Its effects can be altered if the patient isn’t happy with the initial results.
